Gary offers a variety of lectures, seminars, and semester-long courses on nonfiction writing, nature, and the environment. Typically sponsored by undergraduate and graduate university departments, his programs are highly interdisciplinary, highlighting important relationships between science, culture, and art. His clients include the Rainier Writing Workshop MFA program, where he is a faculty member, as well as the University of Montana, Indiana University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Idaho.
